What is Brainstorming and Ideation?
Brainstorming is a problem solving technique that combines a relaxed, informal approach to thinking and producing solutions.
Ideation is the creative process of generating, developing, and communicating new ideas.
This stage of the process begins with a blank slate. Everything is possible, and nothing has been decided. But there’s also a lot of work to do. First, think of something that you’d like to share with the world on the Internet. It can be a hobby, a personal story, a product, a company or business concept, or a special interest or campaign that other people should know about.
For example, if your passion is mountain climbing, you may want to share your experiences climbing mountains as stories, or as reviews of equipment, or an online store for mountaineering holidays, or information from a national park for visitors.
What’s important is to have something to say and find an audience for that something. Once you answer those questions 1) what is it I want to say, and 2) who do I want to listen to what I have to say, then you’re on your way to thinking of how to develop a website.
Activity: Think of something you want to share – an interest, a cause, an experience – and think of what that would look like on some of these types of websites.
